About me

About me

An overview of my education, work experience and background.

Background

Born and raised in Nijkerk. In 2002 I completed my pre-university education (VWO, Nature & Health with Latin) at 't Hooghe Landt College in Amersfoort and began studying Medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Gynaecology drew my interest early on, though neurology intrigued me too: I completed the Neuroscience track with distinction. During my clinical rotations, though, it became clear that my heart was in obstetrics and gynaecology.

After graduating I worked from 2009 as a resident physician in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Medisch Centrum Alkmaar, and from 2010 at Canisius-Wilhelmina Hospital in Nijmegen. There I combined clinical duties with my PhD research (the Triple M trial) into the most effective medical treatment for women experiencing early pregnancy loss, research aimed at improving patient satisfaction while reducing the need for surgical intervention and complications. I obtained my PhD on 11 January 2018 with a doctoral thesis.

I trained as a gynaecologist at Ziekenhuis Gelderse Vallei in Ede and Radboudumc (Nijmegen training cluster). Since 2025 I have worked as a gynaecologist at Deventer Hospital, specialising in reproductive medicine and benign gynaecology.
